Snowboard buying guide

Pick the right board for how and where you ride.

Winter Sportz buying guide · updated 9 October 2026

Quick answer

Most riders do best on an all-mountain board between chin and nose height with a hybrid profile and medium flex. Choose a wide board if your boots are EU 45 or bigger.

Riding style

All-mountain boards suit most riders. Freestyle boards are softer and twin-shaped for park. Freeride boards are directional and stiffer for powder and speed. Splitboards let you tour into the backcountry.

Profile and flex

Camber: pop and edge hold. Rocker: float and forgiveness. Hybrid: a bit of both. Softer flex is easier and more playful; stiffer flex is more stable at speed.

Length and width

Most riders choose a board between chin and nose height. Riders with boots over EU 45 usually need a wide board to avoid toe drag.
